  • Greetings Ringgold Families,

The School District is ever mindful of the upheaval that the COVID-19 pandemic is causing in the lives of our children, teachers, and families around the world. In the midst of this turmoil, I have been uplifted by the resiliency of our families and by the willingness of our community to reach out to support one another in this time of crisis.  We are reaching out today to provide more information regarding our Continuity of Education Plan. While we recognize that there is no better form of instruction than the instruction that occurs in our classrooms, we fully understand the necessity of the Governor’s act to close and then extend the closure of our schools. Therefore, we have been working tirelessly to construct meaningful learning that will cater to the needs of all learners.

    Remote Planned Instruction

With the very likely possibility of an extended closure, we will transition from enrichment and review learning experiences to formal planned instructional learning experiences on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Given our commitment to providing high quality, thoughtful, and relevant educational experiences for our students, our teachers have been working diligently to transition learning to an on-line/virtual platform that is accessible to all students.  Knowing that this crisis will end, the use of these online programs and curriculum will allow for a seamless return to the classroom.

    Technology Access at Home

It will be crucial that children have access moving forward, and the District is making every effort to assist families in this effort.  Therefore, if you have not responded to the District survey that was sent out, please do so.  This will allow us to provide support moving forward.  If you know of a family who has not received the survey due to limited access, please reach out to us so we can support this family and meet their educational needs.

    Additional Communication

We realize that communication during this time is an important part of our transition efforts.  To that end, we will be sending an update to families again tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday as we prepare for this transition.  We will continue to provide updates thereafter, as needed, to keep everyone informed.

We know that the relationships our administrators, teachers and staff have built with students and families are very important, and we will do everything we can to maintain them during this very challenging time.  We appreciate all of your patience and support as we work through this together.  I know that I speak for all of our staff when I say that we love and value our students.  We miss them and look forward to meeting with them virtually on Wednesday.

Stay tuned for more information tomorrow!

    Randall Skrinjorich

    Ringgold School District

    Acting Superintendent
